Behind the aquariums there is another Aquàrium. A large team of highly qualified professionals, state-of-the-art technology, etc., allow more than 11,000 animals to be cared for and their well-being and health to be watched over.

The temperature, the salinity and the quality of the water, the lighting and the recreation of the environment of each ecosystem have been worked meticulously to be able to bring in all of the beings currently living in the tanks, some particularly complicated to keep in captivity.

The biologists in L’Aquàrium have the enormous responsibility of maintaining 450 different species, ranging from minute invertebrates to penguins, passing through sharks of over 3 metres. This is not a simple task, as each of the species that lives in L’Aquàrium requires specific attention which, in some cases, touches on extreme delicateness.

Since L’Aquàrium was opened, research has been a priority subject that has given this equipment international importance as a research centre. In this sense, the agreements must be highlighted that have been signed with different universities and research centres.
